Windows 7 I had to reinstall as it was set up using VirtualBox and Vcentre Convertor won't convert it. I could import the Windows 3.1/Dos, windows 95/98/ME/XP machines using the VMware Vcentre Convertor to run in VMware. You'll better install the VBox extension pack as well.Įverything is up and running now thanks, on my old set up I was running Microsoft Virtual PC for the older systems and VirtualBox for the newer. VMware Player: Run Windows 8, Chrome OS on a Virtual PCīut VirtualBox was tested on 3 pc's in my case and it should work fine even on Win8 (the latest of course, VBox 4.2.x). It is very stable (I don't work for VMware) and didn't crashed so far (VT-x also has to be enabled when available in BIOS or CPU). If you're using VBox on Win8 Pro then you'll need to make sure Hyper-V is disabled from the OS features.Īfter all this and you still have issues, you could give VMware Player a try which is also free for personal VM usage. I even tested a custom build of VBox OSE and worked pretty well. Once I had a crash on the VM Manager but didn't happened again. Without that, I had some issues on i7 and besides there were glitches on dual cores as well. Just make sure VT-x (Hardware Virtualization) is enabled in the BIOS.
